For our computer art final project, I will be presenting the seven cardinal sins: lust, gluttony, wrath, greed, envy, sloth, and pride. The reason I am doing this topic is because of my preoccupation of what it means to be a sinner. The seven cardinal sins attract me because of the way I interpret them into my daily life and how I feel about them. I feel strongly about this subject matter and looking forward to creating them. I want them to have a little less of a personal feel to them compared to my earlier works.


I am envisioning a modern kind of illumination with photographs of myself representing the sins. I also want the Lord’s Prayer to play inside the portraits although I am not quite sure I will do this. I want them to have the color gold incorporated in somehow whether it be fool’s gold leaf or metallic paint. I want it to actually illuminate as a symbol of god pulling the sinner back to the light. I am not exactly sure how I will be doing so, but I will be referencing the Saint John’s Bible for it. I am actually thinking I want to incorporate the gold into the lettering of the Lord’s Prayer and change opacity of it. I will be using both Latin and English translations of the Lord’s Prayer.


I want to print on glossy paper to give it more sheen. I may put it under glass but not sure if I will. I want them to be relatively large images. I am picturing 18x24 with or without matting not sure on that either. It will be an appropriate size because it will be a kind of public service announcement to people about the sins via art series style.


It will mainly be created images. I do not think I want to incorporate many found images although in a few I might use them. I want to have a more hands on way of creating the set and feel of the portraits. I also want them to be less animated in the sense of computer generated images. I want them to be seamless and realistic compared to earlier pieces I have created.
